We have a fantastic opportunity for a skilled Finance professional, to join our business on the stunning Sussex coast.

The nature of the role involves ensuring regulations are adhered to, policies and procedures are reviewed and updated and projects, such as GDPR, are delivered on time. If you have experience of financial controls and processes please do apply.

 

The Role

Reporting to the Financial Control Manager, the Financial Control Accountant will be primarily responsible for assisting the Financial Control Manager in the management and promotion of financial controls discipline across the company.

 

Your remit will include the following;

  • Champion the Financial Control Framework Strategy and assist the company with adherence to the principles and requirements contained within the Framework.
  • Assist in the production, review and monitoring of policies to ensure appropriate policies are in place within the department and wider organisation relating to the control and management of financial transactions in line with the Financial Control Framework.
  • Support the effective running of transactional processing of income and expenses across the organisational and department. Maintain records and processes to assist with control of the wider Group spend, working closely with relevant operational departments and management reporting team.
  • Assist in carrying out due diligence on Suppliers which will entail monitoring and review of the company trade credit risk. Includes analytical review of credit ratings and statutory accounts to provide commentary/analysis and recommendation to internal stakeholders.
  • Assist in the maintenance and development of the Company Supplier Management and Contract processes in conjunction with the Legal Department, Procurement and other finance teams. Perform supplier / partner reviews on the financial integrity of the organisation and sanctions checks.
  • Assist in the management of the interface between Finance and Internal Audit, including liaising closely with the business, co-ordinating the reporting and completion of audit points, and to maintain collaboration regarding delivering audit and control objective.
  • Ensure that you are meeting customers’ fair and reasonable expectations and provide fair outcomes. Question and challenge peers and managers where processes and procedures do not meet these expectations and any activity that does not place customers’ interests at the heart of how we do business.
  • Responsible for the effective identification, management and reporting of risk within your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure there is appropriate debate, discussion and challenge of risks within your areas of responsibility. Enhance the risk management culture within Finance for the effective identification, management and reporting of risk within your area of responsibility.
  • Ensure completion of all training as mandated by the company and regulated by the FCA.
  • Partake in projects within the Finance department where a Financial Control representative is required.

Required skills and experience

·       Good Financial Experience having worked in a similar role focussed on controls and processes

·       Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.

·       Reconciliation skills.

·       Ability to influence people at different levels with different requirements.

 

Advantageous

·       Previous experience in Insurance and/or financial services sector

·       Experience of working in or with audit teams

·       Experience of using an accounting package

·       Experience of working in a control or risk environment

 


Education & qualifications

·       AAT Qualified and CIMA/ACCA/ACA studier, or

·       Part Qualified CIMA/ACCA/ACA studier
