An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled In-House Lawyer to join a high performing in-house Legal team in a successful and growing organisation on the Sussex Coast.

Your remit will include the following;


  • To support the Head of Legal to effectively deliver the services required of the Legal Department.
  • To develop a good understanding of the business and key contacts (both internal and external).
  • Drafting, amending, advising and negotiating on a variety of bespoke and standard form commercial contracts.
  • Understanding, interpreting and advising contract owners on the implications of contract terms and developing the awareness of contract terms and obligations within the business including by the delivery of training to the business.
  • To support the claims function with understanding legal processes and assist business areas with understanding and managing outsourced functions and to provide assistance to the commercial teams in respect of regulatory requirements.
  • Reviewing and amending Terms of Business Agreements with insurance partners and ancillary product suppliers.
  • Ensuring that business protocols for the development, authorisation, execution and monitoring of all contractual commitments are maintained and developed.
  • Providing support and assistance to the business support functions including Compliance and Group Secretariat.

Required experience

  • You will have experience, working in-house, of drafting and developing commercial contracts and other legal agreements, and offering legal support to business on a range of matters.
  • Formal legal professional qualification (i.e. Solicitor, Cilex or Barrister)
  • Practicing certificate


Advantageous experience

  • Experience of regulated financial services business is likely to be an advantage.
  • IT/digital experience is preferred.
  • MOJ portal and road traffic claims management knowledge or experience.
  • Solicitor of + 5 Years’ PQE desirable, however PQE is merely a guide and all levels of PQE will be considered.
