Finance Graduate Programme

Join our three-year Finance Graduate Programme and you’ll experience four rotations, supporting different accounting teams and developing your core finance skills. It’s a great way to understand the commercial complexity of our work and gain a clear idea of which financial area you want to continue your career in.

You’ll gain a full range of experience on a series of high profile projects. These might include preparing financial information for the Board, working with senior managers to develop budgets and forecasts or supporting the delivery of Hastings' project portfolio and business development. At the same time, you’ll have all the support you need to gain your ACCA qualification and develop into one of our future financial leaders.

Where you’ll be based

We’re committed to hybrid working, so you’ll need to be able to work in our Bexhill office at least twice a week, with the option and flexibility of working from home on other days.

Starting your career with us

Starting your career at Hastings Direct gives you the chance to make your mark in an ambitious, rapidly growing and digitally driven business. A company that genuinely cares about you as an individual, respects your opinions and listens to your ideas. One where you can make a positive difference, because you’re encouraged to look for growth opportunities and achieve your full potential.

Most of all, you’ll find all the support you need, from people at every level, so you can fulfil your ambitions. From managers who are approachable and supportive, to colleagues who are always ready to help each other out. In short, you’ll have all you need to launch a successful career.

Your rotations

On the Finance Graduate Programme you’ll build your specialist knowledge and expertise in four nine-month rotations across six accounting teams.

  • Financial Accounts. You’ll be helping to control the accounting ledger and balance sheets.
  • Financial Reporting. You may support the delivery of annual reports and accounts, or the maintenance of accounting policies.
  • Business Partnership. You’ll help generate budgets and forecasts and support decision making.
  • Management Reporting and Planning. You’ll be helping to produce monthly board reports to support strategic forecasting and planning.
  • Tax. You’ll help ensure the Group’s tax compliant.
  • Commercial Finance. You could be working with teams across the group to support major business projects.

Your professional development

We’ll give you all the professional support you need to become ACCA qualified, including broad financial experience, paid study leave and a strong support network. From line managers to mentors, buddies to our Early Careers team, you’ll always have someone you can talk to about anything. From your future career at Hastings Direct, to where to get a coffee!

By the end of the programme, you’ll be a fully qualified ACCA member, ready to move into a mid-level financial role at Hastings. So, you’ll be in a position to add value and make a major contribution to our business, and to become a mentor to future graduates.
