Meet Joe – he joined Hastings back in 2019 in Customer Service and now works as a Technical Advisor in our Policy Fraud team. As we recruit for roles in the team, Joe tells us about the world of tackling policy fraud and why he chose to move across.
I’ve worked in a wide range of jobs and always found myself searching for the challenge in them. I heard about Hastings Direct through a friend, they told me about the fun environment in the office and how hard work was rewarded. I looked at Hastings' Instagram page and was taken aback by how much they celebrated colleagues’ success, as well as company performance.
Having joined Hastings in January 2019 in customer service, I was drawn to tackling policy fraud after sitting with the team and being blown away by the interesting conversations they had with customers. When I joined the team, I worked in the agent role for five months and then applied for the technical advisor role.
Working to full potential
Our team is here to help protect our customers and the company from application fraud. Our main aim is to ensure customers’ policy details are correct and up to date, to avoid invalidating their policy at point of claim or having their claims repudiated. From the moment I joined the team, I was encouraged to work to my full potential and was given all the tools I needed to succeed. Everyone in the department really makes it feel like one big family and when you walk into the area, you’re greeted with a smile.
Driven and motivated
Attention to detail is essential when it comes to looking out for fake documents or spotting inconsistencies in the information we’ve collected. Good conversational skills are also necessary, as you’ll be speaking to a variety of customers daily. The role is ideal for people who are driven and motivated to work towards set targets, whilst also being able to develop themselves to the next level.
Policy fraud is always evolving and we try to stay a step ahead of the trend. With the reforms on whiplash that the government have made, there will be different areas where people will try and find a loophole. If you’re the type of person that enjoys a challenge and can adapt to different situations, then why wouldn’t you join us! You’ll be at the forefront of this in our department and helping the whole business find and fix loopholes that fraudsters try to exploit.
