I’ve been working at Hastings Direct since March 2016. When I joined there were around 300 colleagues in our new Leicester office (now there are over 1,500). To ensure we were able to manage customer calls, colleagues worked on a rotational shift with hours between 08:00 and 21:00 plus weekends.
As Hastings Direct and our customer numbers grew, recruitment activity increased to attract a range of candidates to cover peak call times. This increase in colleague numbers has allowed for a change in shift patterns for retail call centre colleagues who have passed their probation. For me personally this has meant a positive change to my work life balance!
I now work no later than 7pm in the evenings and have weekends free too. This has meant I no longer miss out on family events such as weddings and can plan my weekends and evenings in advance. As well as being able to spend more time with my family and friends, I’ve found my work-life balance has improved which means I have become even more productive in my role.
The new shifts are one of the reasons I love working for Hastings Direct but here are lots of others:
· The leadership team are positive and help us all work to a common goal
· We have free fresh fruit delivered twice a week to our offices
· Free hot drinks are available from the vending machines
· There is a great on-site canteen for colleagues
