I am a stay at home Dad who wanted to start to build a career for myself and my family. Hastings Direct offers part-time roles that not only cater for many different areas of interest but also varying shifts that suit me and the needs of my children. I have been here for nine months which has flown by.
Hastings Direct was able to offer me training for my role that worked around my proposed shift pattern, which was incredibly helpful and made working here possible for me. I have been part of classroom training, group exercises, shadowing, and a learning academy team to understand the role through practice. We have also have a great career development tool that offers training and guidance for how to develop within the role and progress within the company.
We look at making sure that customers have the right level of coverage and the correct details required on their policy. We also offer the ability to protect others on the road, by making sure we provide the correct cover for the right people. This department has successfully helped stop insurance fraud and works with the police on tackling insurance fraud.
I really enjoy the way I can manage my own workload. I am able to ask for more work when needed and ask for additional time to complete work that may require more time to investigate. The role is always engaging as no two cases are the same.
It’s a great role that offers challenge, growth, opportunity to progress and sits within a supportive group of team leaders and technical advisors who are always there to help as well as working alongside great colleagues. It has flexible options for work and shifts, and Hastings is a great company to work for as it supports colleagues, community, customers, and company. You feel part of something bigger than yourself, which is very rewarding and motivating.
My career journey with Hastings started about two and half years ago firstly in Customer Services then in Renewals and now as a Anti Fraud Representative (New Business Review Agent). I have always felt welcomed and appreciated at Hastings. My managers have always been understanding and encouraged me to perform to the best of my abilities.
I pride myself in the work I do. Being able to educate and share my knowledge with customers and knowing this will help them in the future is what makes me perform well in my job. Our department prides itself in the work they generate because we understand the importance of it. Being able to provide good Customer service and knowing every thank you is an understanding Customer, is also one of the many reasons why I enjoy being part of this department.

The Anti Fraud Representative role requires initiative as you are accountable for your own workloads and targets, as well as good communication skills in order to provide clear and correct information to the customer.. You also need to be a passionate individual who prides themselves in delivering excellent customer service.

When I came for my interview I loved the vibrant and fun atmosphere of the office. I’ve been at Hastings Direct for one year now and it’s flown by!

I would say the most important thing is to be adaptable and willing to listen and learn. Every call or case is different and there is a lot of opportunity to develop your skills.
