Tell us about your background and what led you to Hastings Direct?
I was born in small town in India, ever since I was a child I always performed well, and was one of the top rankers in my school. My parents decided that I would do better in a developed city, so they sent me to live in Mumbai. I completed school and an undergraduate programme (BSc. IT). After graduating, I joined an IT firm developing various automation tools using different technologies. I then worked as a Software Engineer for two years and for another two years as a Cloud Data Developer. I decided to gain more experience in data, so I pursued a Business Analytics course offered by the University of Surrey. I truly believe that if one has to achieve something, one should rather do it wholeheartedly. After graduating, I was offered opportunities from a London based company as well as Hastings Direct. I decided to accept the opportunity at Hastings Direct because I recognised Hastings Direct as a great place after meeting the team.
What do you like about Bexhill?
Bexhill is a seaside town which means that it thrives in the summer. When I was in India I dreamt of having a house in front of the sea. I fulfilled that dream by relocating to Bexhill. I really like Bexhill beach, the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill Museum, the Manor Gardens and Egerton Park. There are lots of events throughout the year like the 1066 Cycling Festival, the Bexhill Festival of Music, Carnival Week and the Festival of the Sea.
If someone was considering moving to Bexhill to work for Hastings Direct, what advice would you give them?
Hastings Direct really do care about their customers, colleagues and community. I think moving from Guildford to Bexhill for Hastings Direct was one of the best decisions I have made. The cost of living is relatively low meaning I have almost paid my education loan back from India. I now live in my dream house in front of the sea and I am only ten minutes’ walk from work. I also have more time for my family. Life is quiet, relaxed and most importantly, fun!
