I joined Hastings Direct in May 2020 as Head of Growth Products, covering our Home, Van and Bike product lines. I spent the previous nine years at Legal & General where, for most of that time, I was responsible for building their consumer business, covering both general and life insurance.
I am really excited to have joined Hastings Direct, having admired the business for the way it has grown in the car insurance market. I look forward to learning from what has been achieved in Car products to help scale up our Home, Van and Bike products; it’s a great opportunity to play a part in supporting the business in meeting its goal to become the UK’s best and biggest digital insurer.
So far, my development journey at Hastings Direct has been a whirlwind of induction meetings and virtual introductions to colleagues around the business. The beauty of video introductions is that you spend half an hour chatting to someone with their name at the bottom of the screen. It makes it so much easier to remember all the new names!
Colleagues around the business have been superb. From the recruitment process, where the guys maintained a real momentum despite all the challenges of lockdown, to the onboarding process and the induction plan, it has all been very well organised. This is so important when starting a new role remotely. I’d go as far as saying it’s the most highly organised recruitment and induction programme I have experienced, despite the fact I’ve not yet been in the office! The support and willingness to help from everyone has not only made me feel very welcome, it also quickly dispelled any apprehension about joining a business during lockdown.
