All colleagues play a key role in our success, so we’re committed to providing a range of benefits that meet their needs. This week’s blog looks at the benefits available just for being part of #lifeatHD. Here’s a flavour of what’s on offer…
The starting point is a salary which is benchmarked each year and a generous holiday allowance. To give more flexibility and suit the needs of their work-life balance, colleagues also have the option to buy more holiday or sell some back to the company if they don’t think they’ll need it all. Other core benefits are a generous pension – matching employee contributions up to 10% – life assurance to the value of four times annual salary, and income protection for support during extended absence due to illness or injury.
Colleagues’ health and wellbeing is a big feature of #LifeatHD and our benefits package reflects that. We provide healthcare and dental cashback plans, where colleagues can claim reimbursement for a range of healthcare expenses such as the cost of glasses or dental treatment, physiotherapy, chiropractic treatment and much more. Preventative health screening is an opt-in benefit which gives colleagues the opportunity to access in-depth information on aspects of their health and take steps to maintain or improve it.
We also have an extensive wellbeing programme to help people feel healthier and happier, both inside and outside work. With exercise playing a big part in how we feel, our Cycle to Work scheme means colleagues can purchase a bike and spread the cost across 12 months’ salary payments – while also doing their bit for the environment of course!
Private medical insurance is provided for more senior roles and everyone has free access to online GP consultations and pharmacy services at the touch of a button with the Aviva Digital GP app. Talking of apps…
‘There’s an app for that’ – it’s true, there really is an app for everything these days. As well as Digital GP, a number of other apps are available as part of the Hastings Direct benefits package.
Colleagues can access ‘nudge’, a financial education and wellness platform which uses behavioural science to help its subscribers stay on top of their finances. Another way of watching the pennies is the SmartSpending app which gives our colleagues access to exclusive discounts and cashback from a range of retailers at the touch of a button. The savings available really do mount up – some colleagues have saved thousands using this app!
Sometimes it’s just a bit of support that’s needed. All colleagues can download the NHS-backed Thrive mental health app which provides a range of support to help people manage their mental wellbeing. Plus, as part of our Colleague Assistance Programme, we provide access to the My Healthy Advantage app from Health Assured, helping users to manage their health by setting personal goals.
Supporting our communities is a core part of our 4Cs culture and we do this in many different ways at Hastings Direct. One is the charitable giving scheme that we run on behalf of our colleagues, which enables them to support their favourite charities or good causes directly from their salaries in a tax efficient way.
