From university to insurance
I began my career in insurance as an Actuarial Trainee after leaving Sheffield University. I chose to move from life insurance into the motor space ten years ago. Since then, I’ve worked across a number of areas including technical pricing, optimisation and deployment.
I joined Hastings Direct as a Risk Pricing Manager in May 2021 to work on an exciting new project to improve our competitive footprint, helping the business expand profitably into new areas.
More than spreadsheets and numbers
Here at Hastings, my role in Risk Pricing encompasses more than spreadsheets and numbers. On a daily basis, I get to collaborate with my colleagues in the Fraud and Commercial teams, seeking ways to improve our customer journey and protect the business.
The best part about my role is seeing the work completed by my team make a direct impact on our commercials. It’s possible to present a piece of analysis, contribute to its deployment and see the changes rolled out within weeks. The pace of change here provides a great opportunity to make a difference. Usually, fast paced workplaces are associated with a cut-throat environment. At Hastings Direct, our colleagues are at the forefront of everything we do, so you’ll always have the support you need.
