Jenn joined us in April 2021 as Digital Acquisition Marketing Manager. In this week’s blog, she tells us about the slick onboarding experience that meant she quickly felt at home and looks ahead to the exciting plans for 2022.

Sitting within the Digital and Marketing Team (D&M), my core remit is to drive traffic and sales for Hastings from places outside of price comparison websites. My previous role was at Uswitch, where I led the marketing for the energy vertical, spanning brand, performance media, PR and outreach to ensure the business maintained its position as the top comparison engine for energy switching. Before Uswitch, I learnt my craft in various media agencies, looking after planning and buying of performance media for the likes of EE, Apple, Netflix, and All Saints to name a few!

Excitement around our ambition
I was attracted to Hastings Direct because the business is going through a rapid digital transformation and proven to be very successful. The HD ambition was something I saw colleagues get really excited about throughout my recruitment process, which in itself I found to be informative, quick and immersive. Being able to meet a range of colleagues from across the wider team gave me a better flavour of what it would be like to work at Hastings, and when I joined I was greeted warmly and felt at home here within weeks.

The D&M team are focused on giving customers the best digital experience from the minute they hit the website. That could be to start a quote and buy a policy, amending their details or making a claim, or when it’s time to renew. Our ambition is to be the best and biggest digital insurance provider, with digital being the focus of all customer touchpoints where possible.

Truly collaborative
Our team comprises Analytics, Digital New Business, Brand and Customer Engagement, Customer In-Life & App and Customer Experience. Since joining last year, the team has achieved a massive amount, with projects such as developing and releasing a new quote and buy journey, a complete overhaul of the Hastings brand look and feel and launching an industry first digital renewals experience which enabled us to gain status as the no. 1 app within the insurance category. The brilliant thing about the projects within D&M are that they’re truly collaborative, spanning various departments which means you are always exposed to different colleagues, ideas, roles, and remits, which is great for expanding your skillset. There is a real culture of movement across teams too, which shows the business is supportive in helping colleagues realise their career ambitions.

Forging ahead in 2022
The core focus for the Digital Acquisition Marketing Team in 2022 is to increase sales from our direct channels, as well as supporting the launch of new propositions. Our plan is to test new digital acquisition channels in alignment with brand above the line activity, and work collaboratively across our D&M team to drive the best outcomes for our customers.
