As a data driven insurance provider, we’re continuously challenging our approach and thinking, creating opportunities to exchange ideas, take part in debate and learn from diverse perspectives. We also know there’s wider benefit in talking about the approach we take to developing an inclusive culture that allows our colleagues to be who they are and thrive.
In partnership with Women in Data®, we hosted an in-person networking event in London. Well attended by external guests and Hastings colleagues, including members of our Senior Leadership team, the whole event was facilitated by our colleagues in our Pricing team. Guests heard from:
Tom Gumbrell, Managing Director of Underwriting Services, about the importance of creating diversity within the data industry and what Hastings does to support this.
A panel of our female colleagues in Pricing to discuss their experiences of building a successful career in data.
Padraic Sheerin, Director of Technical Pricing, on how Hastings uses data to detect fraud.
See how the day went in the video below:
We hope to hold more sessions in the future for our colleagues, so if you’re interested in coming along next time, why not follow the Women in Data® LinkedIn page? Here’s just some of the great feedback from attendees this time:
“I was back in the world of insurance yesterday, attending my first Women in Data® meet-up event at Hastings Direct. What a fantastic event and right on my doorstep following my move to London! We heard from some amazing speakers on building a career in data as a woman and on how Hastings Direct are tackling fraud using data. I left having met some great new contacts and armed with some eye-opening stats!”
“What a lovely evening at the Women in Data® and Hastings Direct event in London tonight. It has all the vibes from WiD in March, along with some fantastic insights into insurance data and being a woman in data. Thanks so much for having me.”
