Our Human Resources (HR) Graduate Scheme is designed for graduates to work alongside our HR colleagues whilst they partner with the business to help deliver our corporate strategy and objectives. Hastings’ HR team have a huge variety of roles, from numerical and data-driven roles in Rewards to law specialists in Advisory and training experts in Learning & Development. You’ll be exposed to our highly experienced, collaborative and forward thinking team who support the business to create a working environment where colleagues can perform at their best.

Finance Graduate Scheme
This three-year scheme based in Bexhill gives you an excellent chance to experience working in four different finance teams, as well as all the support you need to gain an ACCA qualification. You’ll be exposed to the full range of finance operations, including Financial Accounts, Financial Reporting, Shared Services, Management Reporting & Planning and Tax. By the end of the programme, we aim to equip you with the skills, tools and experience to specialise in one of the 4 areas you have worked in.

Our IT Graduate Scheme is designed to give graduates the exposure to our proactive, strategic, business-focused and highly specialised IT Delivery teams. During the scheme you’ll experience a wide range of different platforms, syntax and technologies; be taught by real experts in a highly collaborative, agile and supportive environment.

Our Data Analytics Graduate Scheme based in Bexhill and London is designed specifically to give you real experience in our cutting-edge analytical teams including Data Engineering, Underwriting Decision Science, Retail Pricing and Retail Data Science.
Over the two years in this rotational scheme, you will take on placements in Data Engineering, Underwriting Decision Science, Retail Pricing and Retail Data Science. Each placement is designed to be hands-on. You will work on projects that make a real difference to our business. Your projects will involve machine learning, data science, data engineering, optimisation and artificial intelligence.
Our scheme is designed for you if you are passionate about data, have a hunger to learn and a drive to expand your range of analytical skills. A senior analytical leader will be your mentor along with a placement coach who will be your go-to advisor whilst you are learning on the job.

Economist Degree Apprenticeship – Account Analyst

You will be supported to achieve a fully funded undergraduate degree, whilst earning at the same time. You will be working 4 days a week plus 1 day of studying
Data Analyst Apprenticeship – Risk Pricing
We’re looking for an analytical and big data minded apprentice to join us, as we continue grow through the power of data and digital trends. It’s a really exciting time at Hastings and we want to support you, to study for a fully-funded 24 month Data Analyst Level 4 apprenticeship - whilst earning at the same time! You will be working 4 days a week plus 1 day of studying.

I have been on the Finance Graduate programme for 7 months working in the Financial Accounts Team. My first rotation was extremely rewarding - working on a variety of projects and regularly cooperating with senior leaders. It has been a great opportunity to develop my technical knowledge and understanding of the wider business. One of the best things about the Finance Graduate programme is being part of the agile and fast paced culture; there is always something new and exciting. Moreover, I receive great study support for my company funded ACCA qualification – it’s the perfect platform to kickstart my career!
I wanted an opportunity to learn a nationally recognised qualification and to better myself not just for me but also my children. I started my A levels when I left school and didn’t finish them and I’ve always wanted to go back to learning. The apprenticeship has given me so much confidence, self-belief and knowledge, expanding my knowledge in Underwriting and Claims so I am now more equipped to explain these processes to our customers.
I would definitely recommend Hastings Direct to other graduates. Graduates at Hastings Direct are given projects which have an impact on the business and are given the support they need. I have found that placement leaders and colleagues are approachable and keen to help. Their approachability and experience has meant that I have been able to absorb skills. I’ve been working in IT for a few years now as I didn’t go to university, I wanted to formalise my career in IT with a degree. It was identified by my leader that an apprenticeship was possible and I started this in 2019. It’s been really helpful to understand how my role plays a part in the broader IT function and I’m enjoying learning in a formal way, even needing to write ‘proper’ assignments which I’ve not had to do since school!
