Personal Loans is one of the newest teams at Hastings, so we really think of ourselves as a ‘start-up’ with the backing of one of the UK’s largest insurance providers! We’re aiming to build a market-leading lending business that delivers straightforward products and easy digital service at a great price. To do this, we need people who excel when working with numbers and data, technology and in customer service. As a self contained team, our work is really varied – we have all kinds of roles, from credit risk and pricing, to IT and data, through to underwriting and customer service.
If you like working at a fast pace and you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves and get stuck into helping us build a brand new business, you’ll be right at home in our Loans team. You’ll get real responsibility to shape our product from day one and we’re looking for bold people with lots of ideas to come on board. I joined Hastings in January 2022 to build out our collections function. Even though I came from a similar background, I noticed a massive positive change when coming to Hastings. The culture in the Loans team is above and beyond anything I could have expected and there is a massive focus on collaboration within the team. I've been able to develop such a wealth of skills and experience in the short amount of time I've been here purely because of the positive culture within the team. There is always something to get involved with and great things ahead.
I joined Hastings in July 2013 and have been in the Lending team for just over a year as a Fraud Underwriter. The culture and people at Hastings are what makes it so great. I love that within Loans we all work closely with one another, everyone rolls their sleeves up and gets involved. It’s a real team effort, which is why we’re delivering some fantastic things. There’s so much to learn – I can’t wait to see the future of Loans here at Hastings, and how I can continue to develop myself and the business.
I joined the team in February 2021 in the IT & Change function, to help set up IT applications and a change management process for the new Lending business. I’ve had the opportunities to work on some really challenging projects with the business team, which gave me immense satisfaction when I see the benefits in terms of business and customer outcomes. I love to be here because of the impact we have in the form of cooperation and support from all our colleagues. The flat hierarchy means you can reach out to anyone in the business and discuss anything from work issues to personal interests (I love walking in the countryside!). In Hastings, I feel I’m working with friends with a common objective we all want to achieve.
