The HR Graduate programme has been a great experience so far. The structured rotations allow for broad exposure to all areas of HR, which is perfect if, like me, you didn’t come from a business or people management background. So far I’ve had the chance to work in the Recruitment, Talent & Inclusion, and HR Advisory teams, during which I’ve supported with and owned many interesting & impactful projects. Some highlights have been working on the 2024 graduate recruitment and launching our Endometriosis-Friendly status. Much of the work we do is highly collaborative, which means I’ve had the opportunity to connect with a range of colleagues in both HR and the wider business, as well as interact with external stakeholders. One of the best things about the graduate programme is the autonomy you have over your journey, you’re encouraged to have conversations about your interests and career aspirations so that you can get the most out of your two years.
The HR graduate programme has given me the opportunity to build a broad HR skillset through hands-on experience and project-based learning. My first year included rotations in Reward, where I contributed to the annual benefits review and redesigned the Long Service Awards framework, and in Recruitment, where I managed candidate pipelines and developed a competitor analysis tool. I also completed a short placement in Employee Relations, shadowing complex case meetings and gaining insight into compliance and policy application. In my current placement I am now involved in collaborative projects within Colleague & Organisational Development, which is giving me the exposure I need to strategic HR and helping me build strong relationships across the wider business.
After each stage, we’ll let you know if you’ve made it to the next one and what to expect. If you haven’t, we’ll be happy to give you feedback.
