Our team’s mission is to deliver agile and innovative change to support the company’s commercial performance. We do this by deploying changes that directly impact which customers are eligible for an insurance quote and the price they will be offered. This means we are central to delivering the company’s strategic plan.
We’re a team of Product Owners, Scrums Masters, Business Analysts, Developers and Testers who lead on the end-to-end life cycle of a wide range of changes. As team players we work collaboratively, have a passion for change, a keen eye for detail and quality, and are excited by the direct impact we have on key business outcomes. We’re also very enthusiastic about having a bit of fun!
We work in a fast paced and dynamic environment, responding to the strategic priorities of the business. As a data-led and innovative company, our Pricing and Data Analysts are always coming up with new and exciting changes which we need to implement. They use cutting-edge machine learning, modelling and analytical techniques, and our challenge is to find pragmatic ways to implement these innovations.
The changes we deliver cover all of the company’s insurance products, are deployed through a core number of software platforms and we use automation techniques where possible to create efficiencies. Agile and scrum methodologies underpin how we operate, and we are always looking to improve the way we work and speed up the pace of change.

I’ve recently joined the team as a Senior Developer – a role that gives me exposure to the insurance domain and allows me to flex my skills in writing clean and efficient code. In this role, I always feel encouraged and motivated to learn new skills and hone existing ones, with opportunities to grow in my role and take on more responsibility.
I’ve found colleagues at Hastings Direct to be welcoming and friendly, and I honestly don't feel any hesitation in approaching anyone. There is also a culture of being open to new and innovative ideas which I find very motivating. I would definitely recommend Hastings as an awesome place to work!
Having graduated from university, I joined Hastings Direct with ambition and curiosity to learn. Hastings Direct has satisfied this and more! I joined the Underwriting Delivery and Change team as a Product Developer which has provided me with many new skills for personal development in the insurance industry.
Being part of the team has also boosted my confidence and given me opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in a busy environment. Growth and development are important in our team and we are all encouraged to complete a wide variety of courses and workshops. I joined Hastings Direct in 2015, initially working part time in Customer Services whilst studying for my A levels at college. My inquisitive nature and drive for knowledge saw me moving from Customer Service to Retail Pricing and currently I’m part of Underwriting Delivery and Change as a Senior Tester.
Hastings Direct and the leadership team have continuously supported my progression – I’m currently working towards my Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship, allowing me to leverage knowledge and skills from the talented pool of colleagues at Hastings.
