Hastings Direct in Bexhill-on-Sea

This is where you’ll find our head office - and, as the name suggests, it’s on the coast. The south coast, to be precise. And we’re proud to be one of the top three employers in East Sussex and the biggest in Bexhill-on-Sea.

You can actually see the sea from some of our office windows – and on a summer’s day, it doesn’t get much better than that. You’ll also find an on-site restaurant offering tasty treats, as well as Costa coffee.

Meet some of the team

Anil, Data Engineer

Hastings Direct really do care about their customers, colleagues and community. I think moving from Guildford to Bexhill for Hastings Direct was one of the best decisions I have made. The cost of living is relatively low meaning I have almost paid my education loan back from India. I now live in my dream house in front of the sea and I am only ten minutes’ walk from work. I also have more time for my family. Life is quiet, relaxed and most importantly, fun!

Dan, Resourcing Executive

The support given to me from the Recruitment team and around the head office in Bexhill has been incredible. I’ve needed a lot of support and guidance since starting in November 2019, as this has been my first job since losing my sight. I feel a sense of a community and family spirit here at Hastings Direct, one that is there to support, encourage and to include anyone, with any disability and the right frame of mind. It feels very empowering to work for a Company that not only makes available for each individual the tools to improve and grow but encourages Colleagues to give relevant feedback in order to develop and improve the business.

Lily, Trainee Actuary

I moved from the Isle of Man to study BSc Mathematics at the University of Derby in 2016. After graduating, I jumped at the opportunity to join Hastings Direct as a Trainee Actuary and joined the Underwriting Services team in January 2020. I have never fitted in somewhere so quickly and comfortably as I have here, everyone is so friendly and I’m proud to be a part of that open and welcoming culture. If you are looking for a position where you can be passionate about the work you do and want to be challenged to perform the best you can, then I would absolutely recommend Hastings.

Tom, Underwriting Services Managing Director

Having just completed my A levels, my intention was to join a local company for a brief stint while I figured out what I do with myself. 21 years later and here I am, having just been promoted to Underwriting Services Managing Director at Hastings Direct! My first job at Hastings was actually in telesales but my curiosity lead me into Underwriting a couple of years into my tenure here. Understanding why some customers paid more or less than others was fascinating to me - I learnt that the answers could be found in the data and this very quickly became my passion.

Life in Bexhill-on-Sea

Bexhill-on-Sea is on the south coast of England between Eastbourne and Hastings in what’s known as ‘1066 country’. It’s surrounded by beautiful East Sussex countryside full of ancient castles and historic sites, and was also the venue for Britain’s first ever motor race in 1902.

From enjoying sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing or angling at the beach, to exploring the latest art exhibition at the De La Warr Pavilion, or the antique shops in Bexhill Old Town, there’s plenty to discover.
