This week, we caught up with four new colleagues to ask how they’ve found their first few weeks of settling into #lifeatHD. Welcome to the team Junyu, Nicky, Oliver and Eric!

How have you found settling into your first few weeks at Hastings?
The first few weeks were getting to know the teams and the work. Everyone was extremely welcoming and friendly, and keen to get to know me both personally and professionally. I found it extremely easy to ask questions as everyone was so understanding. Hastings really valued my experience and allowed me to apply all my skills where it brings value. As fast-paced and exciting as the nature of the work is, Hastings really make every effort to demonstrate their values of caring for their colleagues.

What advice would you give to someone who’s considering joining Hastings as the next step in their career?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions, everyone is extremely kind and understanding. Additionally, if you have a great idea, don’t be afraid to share it, it could end up becoming the next big thing!

How have you found settling into your first few weeks at Hastings?
Everyone is willing to help and explain the process, my manager listens to me with generosity and I feel safe in the office. Working at Hastings is very much like being part of team and family where the people around all sing from the same sheet, care about each other, and are willing to help and come together when needed. It's very much like a breath of fresh air.

What advice would you give to someone who’s considering joining Hastings as the next step in their career?
Apply with an open mind and a can-do attitude. Always give it your 100%, work hard and do your best.

How have you found settling into your first few weeks at Hastings?
I’ve been here three months now and it’s been fantastic, everyone has been so helpful and there have already been conversations about building my skills for the future, which is something I hadn’t had at previous roles. I would also like to say I feel very well supported, my manager Josh has been extremely helpful with getting me up to speed on pricing and is always there if I have any questions. I also feel like I have integrated into the team well despite working remotely.

What advice would you give to someone who’s considering joining Hastings as the next step in their career?
My advice is don’t be afraid to ask questions and it’s okay to not know everything! Insurance is a huge field and can be overwhelming to start with, but you will eventually start to understand how everything fits together. Everyone knows the first steps can be intimidating and so they are willing to help in any way they can.
