Core to the success of our Wellbeing programme are our Wellbeing Champions, who recently joined an upskill training session held by the One You East Sussex health service to better support our colleagues in Making Every Contact Count (MECC).

MECC is designed to support people like our Wellbeing Champions to learn about local services that are available, helping them to direct colleagues appropriately. Our champions now have a better understanding to signpost the services One You East Sussex provides, include eating well, NHS health checks, weight control, exercise, quitting smoking and alcohol consumption management.

Here some of our Wellbeing Champions tell us more about the training:

Mark Winterflood, Wellbeing Manager
: “It’s a priority for us to invest in our network of Wellbeing Champions so they have the right tools and resources to do their best for our colleagues. The MECC training will certainly provide them with knowledge on what local resources are available around the UK.”

Simone - L - W.JPGSimone Lynskey-Wright, Wellbeing Champion: “I found it really good, very informative and I’ve taken a lot from it. I think it will help me be mindful when having these types of conversations and making sure I’m asking evocative questions. It will help colleagues with lifestyle improvements and help with their barriers in day to day life.”

Jon.jpgJon Rigby, Wellbeing Champion: “I found the session really interesting. It really opened my eyes to drilling a bit deeper into what people’s motivations might be, rather than to just assume, as most of us usually would, that the motivations of others might be similar to our own. I will take this away with me and I believe it will really benefit me in terms of the interactions I have with others, not just those I help in my position as a Wellbeing Champion and leader, but also with friends and family alike.”
